Experts: The US Cannot Rapidly Increase Missile Production, Its Stocks Have Been Depleted in Ukraine and the Middle East
Russian State News Agency, Moscow, October 09 - American commentator Mike Freedberg stated that the US cannot quickly double missile production, as they have depleted their stocks in the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, and the Pentagon lacks suitable defense infrastructure.
Freedberg said during an interview with the online magazine "Responsible Statecraft" of the American think tank "Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft": "I think doubling missile production could take four years or more... In my opinion, they want to try to triple it? It's not possible, at least not so quickly... We have been involved in the war in Ukraine since 2022. We know what ammunition we have consumed there, and how much."
He also believes that the existing defense infrastructure in the US is unable to cope with a rapid increase in missile production. Moreover, expanding production would require billions of dollars in investment.
Russia believes that providing weapons to Ukraine hinders the mediation of the situation, directly involving NATO member states in the conflict, which is "playing with fire." Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov previously stated that any material containing weapons provided to Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. He said that the US and NATO are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict, not only supplying weapons but also training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin previously stated that Western support for Ukraine does not help negotiations and has a negative impact.
