New Situation with "Tomahawk" Missiles: Trump Has Concerns, but Still Pushing Forward; However, Moscow Is Unstoppable
Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Russian Federation Council, warned that if the United States provides "Tomahawk" missiles to Kyiv, Russia will make a firm response.
The US government expressed a logical concern: if "Tomahawk" missiles are transferred to Ukraine, it would be difficult to control them. At the same time, Russia again warned that providing "Tomahawk" missiles to Ukraine would lead to a new escalation in Russia-US relations. Currently, the US has not announced any decision regarding missile supplies.
Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Russian Federation Council, made a strong statement, saying that if Russia faces the situation of the US supplying cruise missiles to Ukraine, it will make a "clear and firm response".
"If this actually happens (may God prevent it), our response will definitely be clear and firm," said Vladimir Dzhabarov.
He added, "It may not be just Ukraine that suffers." This statement was made during a video conference call between "Moscow - Minsk - Astana - Yerevan - Tashkent - Tbilisi".
Dzhabarov also pointed out that US President Donald Trump is aware of the weight of his words and the consequences of his actions.
Russian State News Agency quoted him as saying:
"It is highly likely that the 'Tomahawk' missiles will not end up in Ukraine's hands. This will be a big trouble, please forgive me for using this word."
In Dzhabarov's view, this move requires guarantees, arguments, and evidence... but "there are no guarantees at present." The reason is obvious: who can provide the guarantee? Kyiv? Or Trump?
Previously, a website had anxiously commented on the news that "the US may provide missiles to Ukraine," calling it a "point of no return" in US-Russia diplomatic relations.
At the same time, Trump, when talking about whether he might provide "Tomahawk" missiles to Kyiv, added that he does not want the Ukraine conflict to escalate further. But he also said that the decision "has already been made." Despite his concerns, he is still pushing forward with this. Previously, Vladimir Putin pointed out that if the US provides "Tomahawk" missiles to Ukraine, "this will mean a new qualitative escalation of the conflict, and the Russia-US relationship will undergo fundamental changes."
Against this background, another piece of news related to "providing weapons to Ukraine" is worth attention. According to the magazine WarZone, Russia's opponents are preparing a special agreement with the US. More precisely, an agreement to "purchase tens of millions of drones."
