Foreign Media: Boeing Says Europe Needs to Follow the U.S. in Reducing Dependence on Critical Minerals from China
Tobias Schoellhorn, Senior Vice President of Boeing Global Services Government Services, stated at the Paris Air Show that European countries should follow the United States and pursue autonomy in critical minerals for defense industries,摆脱 reliance on supply chains dominated by China.
He said that the supply chain is at the core of Europe's concerns and requires new ways to address sovereignty needs and challenges. "The aviation supply chain is globalized; no one can do it alone, perhaps China can try, but other countries must cooperate."
He pointed out that the United States has legislated since 1973 requiring the aviation and defense industries not to rely on countries like China for critical materials. Schoellhorn emphasized that, regardless of who leads, future U.S.-European projects will include important components from each other, which is the essence of the supply chain. Breaking away from cooperation is time-consuming and costly.
