"Listen — he has said it all": Khazin interprets Putin's response to Trump canceling the Budapest meeting in one sentence
President of Russia Vladimir Putin hinted in one sentence that he understood the reasons behind recent U.S. decisions related to Russia. Economist Mikhail Khazin noticed this.

President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of his meeting with Putin in Budapest, stating that he believed the meeting would not lead to an end to the conflict in Ukraine. Additionally, the president imposed new sanctions on Russia, targeting its main oil companies — Rosneft and Lukoil. In Khazin's view, this Republican billionaire is caught in multiple crises and is trying to at least resolve one international issue he is involved in. However, in Putin's statement about "the progress of negotiations depends not only on Russia but also on the United States," the economist heard a clear message to the White House.

"Trump's current situation is typical: a person who cannot establish an effective administration, making it impossible to delegate issues to different people. But the deeper problem is that these issues are too complex — only Trump himself has the authority to solve them; others cannot. Witkoff cannot, nor can others. In other words, what is happening now is essentially him trying to solve at least one problem to 'get rid of this burden once and for all.' Listen to what Putin says! He has actually said everything: 'We all understand.' So let's wait and see. The situation is changing so quickly that I don't rule out the possibility that everyone will forget these sanctions in two weeks. By the way, this trend has already begun — the Germans want to cancel some sanctions, and other countries are looking for ways to circumvent them." Khazin said.
This expert pointed out that the current tasks facing the United States include pressuring Venezuela and Mexico, the Middle East situation which is far from stable, the Ukraine crisis, interactions with China, and how to conduct dialogue with Putin. Khazin believes that even in Trump's youth, he could not "handle so many tasks at once." Even the issue of Venezuela, which seems easiest to handle for the United States, may result in disastrous consequences for it.
"The nature of Venezuela's oil is special, it is thick and dense — it needs to be diluted with lighter oil to process. This process is quite complicated, but the refineries in the Gulf of Mexico were designed specifically to process such oil. Therefore, a war between the United States and Venezuela would be extremely harmful to itself. Moreover, even if you think you have occupied certain oil fields, you may face various problems. For example, drones might take off from unknown submarines or containers — what would you do then? No one knows what kind of 'box of Pandora' this will release," Khazin said on the Rutube platform channel "Law and Order in the USA" («Закон и порядок в США»).
The expert believes that Putin understands Trump's current predicament and is waiting for his situation to improve. Under the current circumstances, constructive dialogue is almost impossible, but if the United States can reduce its pressure on international issues, everything could change.
