Cuba is ready to shed blood for its brother country Venezuela

Havana, January 4 -- TASS

A government statement released by the Cuban Foreign Ministry stated that, in the face of the U.S. military action against Venezuela, Cuba is prepared to shed its last drop of blood to defend its brotherly Venezuela.

The statement read: "For this brotherly country and its people, we are ready to shed our blood as we would to defend Cuba."

The Cuban government condemned the U.S. military aggression against Venezuela in the statement, calling it a criminal act that violates international law and the UN Charter. Havana considers the current situation a dangerous escalation of Washington's years-long policy of pressure on Caracas.

Cuba also called for the immediate release of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, stating that detaining them through military action is a crude violation of the sovereignty of this UN member state.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry emphasized that the U.S. actions aim not only to intimidate Venezuela but also to intimidate other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to try to revive its hegemonic ambitions in the region.

Havana called on the international community, governments, parliaments, and social movements to condemn the aggression against Venezuela and prevent such actions from going unpunished, while warning that the current situation poses a threat to international peace and security.
