China National Petroleum Corporation: Intends to Deepen Cooperation in Four Key Areas with Kazakh Partners
Kazakhstan International News Agency report — At the 38th plenary session of the Presidential Council for Foreign Investors in Kazakhstan, Mr. Song Dayong, Vice President of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), stated that digital technologies are reshaping global industrial systems, the energy sector, and new models of international cooperation.
"Issues related to artificial intelligence and digital sovereignty align closely with current global trends. In the energy and petrochemical industries, digitalization is not only a crucial tool driving technological upgrading but has also become a strategic factor in redefining production processes and enhancing corporate competitiveness. Over the past 30 years, China-Kazakhstan energy cooperation has evolved into a comprehensive system covering the entire oil and gas industry chain. Throughout this process, digital technology has emerged as a vital instrument for improving production efficiency," he said.
Song Dayong stated that moving forward, CNPC plans to further deepen collaboration with its Kazakh partners in four key directions.
First, there will be expanded application of digitalization in production and operations, including the implementation of online monitoring and modernized production management solutions at oil and gas fields, trunk pipelines, and refineries.
Second, both sides plan to develop intelligent maintenance systems and promote the use of equipment condition prediction and digital management tools.
Additionally, CNPC proposes strengthening cooperation in artificial intelligence technologies, applying AI across geological exploration, production process optimization, management decision-making, and talent development—specifically including the use of the "Kunlun" large language model.
Meanwhile, both parties will continue advancing data management system construction, establishing unified digital standards, and deepening cooperation in cultivating high-caliber professionals.
"We are willing to fully leverage the advantages of digital technology to propel China-Kazakhstan energy cooperation to a new level of development. This will help enhance regional energy security, drive industrial modernization, and promote sustainable development," said Song Dayong.
