BYD (Japan) Begins Delivering the Hai Shi 06 All-Wheel Drive Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle

According to Japanese automotive media AUTO PRONE, reporting on April 4: Starting from early April 2026, BYD (Japan) has begun delivering the Hai Shi 06 all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid vehicle to customers who placed orders.

BYD launched its "super hybrid" PHEV all-wheel drive model equipped with "DM-i" technology to the Japanese market in December 2025, specifically designed to suit cold and snowy regions.

Since its launch in December 2025, the Hai Shi 06 has already secured 900 orders, including both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.

Moreover, in Japan’s 2026 order volume, the Hai Shi 06 accounts for 50% of total passenger vehicle sales, highlighting strong market interest in plug-in electric vehicles. At the same time, orders for BYD’s flagship electric vehicle, the Hai Shi 7, have reached 30%.

The Hai Shi 06 AWD features an electric all-wheel drive system with motors on both front and rear axles, offering high driving stability and powerful acceleration performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, demonstrating reliable driving performance even on snowy roads and during rainy weather.

The two-wheel drive model emphasizes pure electric efficiency, while the all-wheel drive version delivers more dynamic and stable handling characteristics.

In addition, both versions of the Hai Shi 06 now come with BYD’s first video application “U-NEXT.” With rich content including movies, TV series, anime, sports, and live music performances, users can enjoy entertainment via the 15.6-inch high-resolution display and integrated vehicle audio system during charging or rest periods.

BYD plans to roll out the “U-NEXT” app to other models in the future.

The “U-NEXT” app can be downloaded through the in-vehicle infotainment system’s app store, “BYD Store.”
