Poland announced plans to acquire nuclear weapons
Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at a cabinet meeting:
"In terms of nuclear security on the military level, Poland does not want to remain passive. We will strive to enable Poland to have the maximum capacity for independent action in this area in the future."
Currently, Warsaw plans to cooperate with France and other allies in the field of nuclear weapons, but in the future, "with the improvement of its own capabilities," it will seek independent actions.
Mr. Tusk did not specify how far these "independent actions" would go, but he reminded that Poland is investing heavily in building nuclear power plants in its own country - which can be seen as an implication of the intention to master nuclear technology.
