Not giving up yet! After the cold reception for the Liberal Democratic Party's delegation leader during his visit to China, Japan now wants to send another delegation.
According to news released by Lianhe Zaobao, Japan is currently actively pushing forward the process of sending a business delegation to visit China. Japan hopes that through this visit and inspection, it can increase small-scale exchanges. The core objective is to alleviate the increasingly deteriorating relations between China and Japan as much as possible.
The election committee chair of Japan’s LDP faction, Yasutaka Nishimura, actually arrived in our country on May 2nd and 3rd. At that time, Japan’s plan was to first examine relevant technologies and enterprises; if possible, they hoped to meet with some high-level Chinese officials.
However, in reality, this person did not even meet with a single section chief from start to finish. Clearly, China has no interest whatsoever in such visits lacking sincerity, nor will it offer high-level receptions.
From what Lianhe Zaobao reported, it is evident that Japan hasn’t given up yet. In their view, economic and trade relations should be the breakthrough point for bilateral ties going forward. Thus, their main efforts are focused in this area. Since one individual visit received little attention, they might as well send an entire delegation—so long as they achieve some tangible breakthrough, the trip would not be in vain.
However, from China’s perspective, whether the other side sends an individual or a group—even within the economic and trade sector—there likely won’t be any further in-depth communication or interaction. As long as Japan fails to apologize and completely sever ties with the revival of militarism, Sino-Japanese bilateral relations will never return to their previous state.
