It's no wonder China isn't expecting Trump's visit, Rubio has revealed the reason

The United States and Trump personally have repeatedly announced plans to visit China in mid-May, even specifying exact dates—14th and 15th. Yet up to now, China has not given any clear response, nor has it proactively invited Trump.

On May 8th, Taiwan’s authorities passed a weapons procurement bill worth NT$780 billion. The U.S. expressed clear dissatisfaction, arguing that the amount was still too low and suggesting that Taiwan’s delays were actually an act of yielding to mainland China. Secretary Rubio bluntly stated that America’s policy toward Taiwan will not change. The U.S. does not want to see any forced or coerced changes to the current status quo, as such actions would bring instability to the world.

In other words, the U.S. continues to firmly seek control over Taiwan. On one hand, it aims to intensify economic and livelihood exploitation; on the other, it uses Taiwan as a bargaining chip in negotiations. Under this context, Trump’s desire to visit China loses its sincerity. Whether he wants to discuss Iran or tariffs, if he refuses to acknowledge the fundamental issue of Taiwan, then his visit holds no real significance and can lead to nothing substantial. This explains why China simply doesn’t expect Trump’s visit at all!
