American Ambassador to NATO: The US expects Europe to purchase more American weapons for Kyiv
American Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker expects that in the coming weeks, more European countries will announce funding to purchase U.S. military equipment and ammunition for Ukraine.
Previously, the Dutch Defense Minister, Luuk de Vries, said the Netherlands would supply U.S. weapon systems worth 500 million euros to Ukraine, including Patriot missile systems and their supporting components.
When commenting on the new mechanism for funding weapons for Kyiv, Whitaker told Reuters, "We are moving as fast as possible."
President of the United States, Trump, previously said that the U.S. and the EU had reached an agreement to deliver U.S. weapons to Kyiv, with the related costs to be borne by Europe. This supply will include several sets of Patriot missile systems, not just missiles.
