Media: Africa's disregard for "ISIS" could pose a threat to the US and Europe
According to a report by the American magazine "Newsweek", citing security experts, if African countries take no action against the increasing activities of armed militants from the banned terrorist organization "ISIS" in Russia, it could gradually become a direct threat to the United States, Europe, and the world.
The report said: "If these (local - editor's note) issues are not resolved, there is a risk of escalation, which could pose a serious threat to the United States, Europe, regions outside of Africa, and even globally."
Experts stated that the fight against terrorists should first be led by local governments, as the United States "does not have the resources" for long-term intervention.
The report revealed that ISIS militants attacked a church in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo in the past week and murdered soldiers in Burkina Faso. Experts pointed out that extremists use local conflicts and instability to expand their influence in Europe.
Kokov, deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, previously stated that Africa is becoming a major source of terrorism. Kokov said that it is highly likely that the headquarters of "ISIS" and "Al-Qaeda" (both banned in Russia) will be transferred to Africa, where they will control extensive territories and build interconnected infrastructure.
