Recently, the trial of the four major criminal groups in northern Myanmar is being conducted in an orderly manner. Under the joint efforts of the Chinese police and the Myanmar government, many telecom fraud parks have shut down, and the anti-fraud work has achieved significant results.

However, just as people thought they could finally relax, bad news came from northern Myanmar again: after the downfall of the four major families, new telecom fraud parks began to rise. Following this line of investigation, it turned out that it was related to Elon Musk. What's going on here?

A report from the U.S. Congress revealed that SpaceX, a company under Elon Musk, is suspected of providing satellite services to telecom fraud parks in Myanmar. As is well known, the Thai government previously cut off power and network supplies in border areas to cooperate with Chinese police in cracking down on telecom fraud groups.

But the operations of the telecom fraud groups did not stop. Drones sent for investigation found that it was actually Starlink providing signals to the parks. For example, the well-known "KK Park," there are 80 Starlink antennas on the roof of one building alone, so there's no need to worry about losing signal after being disconnected from the internet.

New data shows that in the past three months, Starlink once became the largest internet provider in Myanmar and now holds a stable second place with a market share of 12.37%. However, before this year, there were no Starlink terminals in all of Myanmar because they had not yet obtained access licenses.

The U.S. Congress has started an investigation into whether Starlink has a cooperative relationship with the telecom fraud parks in Myanmar, and if necessary, can require Elon Musk to testify in court.

Certainly, this does not mean that Elon Musk himself is colluding with the telecom fraud groups. After all, when buyers purchase Starlink terminals, they do not inform their real purpose.

But it is unlikely that Starlink is completely unaware. After all, the telecom fraud groups in Myanmar are well known worldwide. Sudden large-scale purchases of terminals would not go unnoticed, but they chose to turn a blind eye and pretend not to know.

Starlink is everywhere

Now that the matter has been exposed, it is a huge scandal for both Elon Musk himself, Starlink, and even the United States. The world's richest person and the self-proclaimed number one country in the world are connected with telecom fraud groups. How will Trump's face be saved?

It should be noted that the United States is also one of the hardest-hit countries by Southeast Asian fraud. Last year, Americans suffered losses of $10 billion due to fraud, a 66% increase compared to the previous year. This is no small amount.

This week, the U.S. government sanctioned a "pig-butchering" telecom fraud organization called Prince Group in Cambodia, seizing over $1.5 billion in Bitcoin assets belonging to its founder Chen Zhi.

Documents disclosed by the U.S. court show that Chen Zhi ran a "pig-butchering" operation with 1,250 phones and 76,000 social media accounts. His business involves Bitcoin mining and gambling, covering the globe. One of Chen Zhi's accomplices once revealed that their daily profits exceeded $30 million, which is faster than Elon Musk's earnings.

"Pig-Butchering"

South Korea has also long suffered from telecom fraud. Recently, a news story broke out about a South Korean university student who was deceived into working in Cambodia for telecom fraud and later beaten to death.

This case caught the attention of the South Korean government, and Lee Jae-myung has instructed to increase police deployment in Cambodia. The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also issued a travel warning for Cambodia.

But this is far from enough. No matter how carefully you plan, there will always be gaps, and telecom fraudsters are everywhere, hard to prevent. To completely eliminate this phenomenon, it is necessary to take strong action like China, jointly with local governments to crack down on the headquarters of the fraud groups. Otherwise, even if the parks in northern Myanmar are closed, they may start again in Cambodia.
