France has announced today that President Emmanuel Macron of France and Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the United Kingdom will jointly chair a meeting focusing on coordinating maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz following the end of the war.

The Elysée Office stated that the "Maritime Navigation Initiative for the Strait of Hormuz" will take place this Friday at the Elysée Palace in France.

The office said it aims to invite allies not involved in the conflict to discuss how to manage traffic issues after the war, including the possibility of conducting strictly defensive multinational missions under safe conditions.

"Given the impact of this conflict on the global economy, freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is an urgent priority," the Elysée Office stated in a release.
