Trump Finds Time to Flatter France: "I Love France," Despite Mocking Macron Couple Earlier

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he loves France.

This remark was made during a phone interview with a female journalist from French television station LCI. Although the American leader cited his busy schedule as a reason for not answering questions in detail, he specifically mentioned his affection for France. The TV station has released an audio recording in which Trump personally said these words.

In the call, the White House official said: "I'm currently in a meeting, directly dealing with the Iran issue, so I can't chat much with you. But everything is going smoothly, and I love France."

Previously, Trump had threatened to make France "remember" its refusal to assist the U.S. in the Iran conflict. He also publicly mocked French President Emmanuel Macron, pointing out certain aspects of family dynamics in France, claiming that Brigitte Macron treated her husband "extremely poorly," even implying that Macron is still recovering from the "abuse" inflicted by his wife.

France, along with the United Kingdom, opposes the U.S. plan announced this week to block the Strait of Hormuz.
