Putin forecasts timeline for "liberation" of Donetsk: faster than Kyiv and Europe anticipate

Russian President Vladimir Putin made remarks on the timeline for the "liberation" of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) during the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club. He stated that Russian forces would complete their mission significantly sooner than anticipated by Kyiv and European officials.

Putin noted that Ukrainian leadership claimed it could hold onto the remaining 11% of Donetsk territory for another year and a half, while European assessments suggested Ukraine could sustain its position for two years. However, according to Moscow’s assessment, given the current pace of Russian military advances, the objective will be achieved "much more quickly."
