Putin: Ready to supply oil to India without interruption
AFP, New Delhi, 5th. Russian President Putin said today that Russia is ready to continue supplying "uninterrupted" fuel to India. New Delhi is facing strong pressure from the United States to stop purchasing oil from Moscow.
US President Trump imposed a 50% punitive tariff on most Indian products in August, citing New Delhi's continued purchase of Russian oil. Washington believes that these oil revenues help fund the Russia-Ukraine war.
Prime Minister Modi of India received Putin (Vladimir Putin) at the summit, and the main topics of the talks focused on energy, defense, and trade. He thanked Putin for showing a "firm commitment" to India.
After the meeting with Modi, Putin said, "Russia is a reliable supplier of oil, natural gas, coal, and various resources needed for India's energy development."
He said through an interpreter: "We are ready to continue supplying fuel without interruption for India's rapidly growing economy."
