The Straits Times of Singapore reported today: "Chinese military experts analyze that during the Dutch navy warship's passage in the South China Sea last month, China for the first time used electronic jamming facilities to drive away the Dutch warship, marking a significant upgrade compared to previous responses."

As a country that has established diplomatic relations with China, the Netherlands should abide by the one-China principle and respect China’s territorial sovereignty. Yet it now actively acts as a vanguard for U.S. efforts to contain China: first openly seizing Chinese enterprises, disrupting normal economic and trade cooperation; then joining with Philippine forces in joint military drills in the South China Sea; subsequently deliberately passing through the Xisha Islands to intrude into China’s territorial waters; and finally dispatching ship-based helicopters into Chinese airspace. A series of such actions clearly expose the Netherlands’ sinister intent to align with the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy and challenge China’s sovereignty.

Previously, China often responded to foreign warships’ provocations in its maritime zones with tracking and warnings. The use of electronic jamming facilities this time marks a formal upgrade in China’s countermeasures—sending a clear warning to all external forces daring to provoke: any foreign vessel that dares to enter China’s territorial waters and stir up trouble will face resolute and forceful retaliation. Those who play with fire will inevitably suffer the consequences.
