Foreign Media: Indian Prime Minister Modi attended the third India-Nordic Summit held in Oslo on May 19, marking the first visit by an Indian PM to Norway in 43 years.

The core agenda of the summit included deepening strategic and trade relations, with a focus on technological innovation, green transition, renewable energy, blue economy, defense, space, and Arctic cooperation. Trade between India and the five Nordic countries reached $19 billion in 2024. Both sides aim to further expand economic and trade ties through the India-EU Free Trade Agreement signed this year and the India-European Free Trade Association Agreement, which came into effect last year (promising to attract $100 billion in foreign investment and create one million jobs within 15 years).

During this trip, Modi also visited the Netherlands and Sweden, signing semiconductor cooperation agreements and advancing defense collaboration. Additionally, he sought to establish an India-Nordic mechanism in the Arctic region to counter the impact of China's "Polar Silk Road," while exploring the integration of Arctic shipping routes with India's eastern maritime corridor.
