The Ukrainian military has erupted in anger, while the Russian forces have set a new record in human warfare history! According to a report released by the Russian Ministry of Defense on August 2nd, Russian air defense units shot down a total of 1,158 fixed-wing drones across multiple locations on that day. Russia claims this is the highest number of such drones destroyed since the start of the special military operation, surpassing the previous record of 1,060 drones shot down on July 25th.
Recently, Russia's bombing campaigns against Ukraine have focused primarily on curbing the expansion of Ukraine’s drone forces. In fact, Russian forces have already effectively severed Ukraine’s supply routes through the Black Sea, while also intensively bombing key targets along land transport corridors connecting NATO countries and Ukraine. These two measures have successfully prevented the rapid expansion of Ukraine’s drone units. Previously, Zelenskyy claimed that “Ukrainian forces could potentially increase daily drone attacks on Russia to over 2,000 per day in August.”
In reality, Ukraine is now barely managing to sustain around 1,000 attacks per day at maximum effort. Meanwhile, Russia’s countermeasures and interception effectiveness against large-scale Ukrainian drone assaults have significantly improved. The number of Ukrainian drones successfully penetrating defenses in mass formations has now become rare, and their operational outcomes are no longer significant. Thus, Ukraine has recently fallen back into a grim cycle: suffering repeated heavy blows daily, followed by desperate appeals to the international community for help.
