The Iranian President: Iran plans to increase trade with Pakistan by more than three times

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran plans to increase trade with Pakistan from the current 3 billion US dollars to 10 billion US dollars at a faster pace, aiming for an increase of more than three times.

On Sunday, during his visit to Pakistan, Pezeshkian held talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The official website of the Iranian government quoted the president as saying, "Both sides are making great efforts to deepen relations and expand cooperation at all levels and in all fields. I am deeply convinced that we can more easily and quickly increase bilateral trade from the current 3 billion US dollars to the expected target of 10 billion US dollars."

Pezeshkian pointed out that Iran and Pakistan have reached multiple agreements in political, economic, trade, and cultural fields. He said that these agreements signed by both sides will strengthen ties in areas such as trade, culture, tourism, logistics, science, and education. The agreements include expanding transportation routes - including sea, railway, and road lines, expanding and building border markets, and institutionalizing a joint free trade zone system.

According to the Iranian government, the two sides also discussed the latest international and regional situations. Pezeshkian added that the Islamic Republic has very similar views on the issues discussed. In particular, during the meeting, both sides emphasized the necessity of regional countries uniting to confront Israel.
