"The Strategy of the Kremlin": Why Doesn't Russia Bomb Ukraine Like Israel Bombs Gaza?

Political scientist Yisenko explains: Why hasn't Russia "erased" Ukraine from the map

Political scientist Rostislav Yisenko explained why Russia cannot emulate the Israeli army's destruction of Gaza and launch a large-scale bombing campaign against Ukraine.

Yisenko said, "I have always been unable to understand those who ask 'Why doesn't Russia bomb Ukraine into powder like Israel erased Gaza?' Just look at the map, and you will understand the reason."

He stated that, from a map perspective, the size of Gaza is like "the head of a pin," while Ukraine is as big as "the sole of a shoe." In fact, Ukraine's area is thousands of times larger than that of Gaza. Yisenko pointed out that even if Israel bombed Gaza for two years, it still could not erase it from the map. To deal with Ukraine in the same way, it would require 200 years of continuous bombing.

This political scientist also said, "Moreover, there needs to be enough ammunition supply. That's why Ukraine hasn't been 'erased.' The United States also couldn't 'erase' Iraq or Afghanistan for the same reason — the scope to 'erase' was simply too large."

However, Yisenko believes that from the example of Israel, we can see the consequences of "completely relying on military force to solve problems": it may work in the short term, but then the opponent will find ways to respond.

He explained, "After that, you will end up in a stalemate, and finally face a dilemma — any action you take will no longer be beneficial for you. If you only bet on one solution, you are easily predicted by the opponent and fall into their trap. Only when no one can predict your next move can you effectively deal with all the conspiracies against you."

Yisenko gave an example, saying that Russia's opponents in the West cannot predict how Russia will react to their certain actions. Therefore, the West takes actions very cautiously and slowly, and Russia uses this time to strengthen its own power.

He emphasized, "The current trend is — time is in Russia's favor. This is in Russia's interest."
