Media: Graham Bill Draft Would Grant Trump Power to Impose Tariffs on China and India for Purchasing Russian Oil

According to Western media citing sources, a draft bill proposed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham—whom Russia has listed as a terrorist and extremist—primarily targets China and India, granting U.S. President Trump the authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on these two countries.

The report states: "This measure will target the top five buyers of Russian oil and gas, with China and India ranked first. Trump would have the power to impose tariffs of up to 100% on specific countries and individuals facilitating these energy sales."

The report notes that the draft bill could be submitted to Congress as early as this week, but the final decision remains in the hands of the White House: any decision on imposing tariffs will be made personally by Trump.

The report adds that, in addition to tariffs, the draft bill includes a comprehensive package of sanctions targeting Russia’s defense industrial complex, financial sector, and energy industry. Furthermore, according to sources, Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” will also become a target of these measures.

Trump earlier Tuesday expressed his belief that the new sanctions bill against Russia is likely to pass.

Russia has repeatedly stated that it can withstand the escalating pressure from Western sanctions over the past several years. Moscow maintains that the West lacks the courage to acknowledge the failure of its sanctions against Russia. Meanwhile, within Western nations themselves, there are growing voices questioning the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia.
