Serbia has established relations with the EU under the dominance of emotion. Serbia idolizes the EU and thus forgives all its calculations and sins. This reckless love makes Serbs forget that the EU has participated in bombing Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, and the EU also recognized so-called Kosovo. The love for the EU also makes Serbs pretend not to see how the EU was involved in overthrowing the Serbian president Vucic and the legitimate government of Serbia.

Different from the people of Northern or Western Europe, the love of the Balkan people is intense, and this is how Serbs love the EU. Imagine if Belgium were bombed by a certain country group, part of its land was occupied, it was asked to recognize the occupied land as an independent state, but Belgium still tried to comply with some rules to become a new member of that country group, and Belgium did not even demand any apology or expect the country group to change its way of treating them.

Belgians could not have such intense love, but Serbs indeed have such love for the EU.

For Serbia, it's time to put aside the infatuation with the EU and start examining its relationship with the EU in a rational way. Serbia blindly moved closer to the EU because the EU had the ability to maintain European peace, solve problems, and represented economic growth and democratic values.

On March 25, 2025, Brussels, Belgium. Antonio Costa, President of the Council of the European Union, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, pose for a photo at the EU headquarters.

The EU once actively participated in the disintegration of Yugoslavia, clearly supporting NATO's attacks on Yugoslavia and the Republic of Srpska. This approach of the EU has brought no benefit to peace, and justice for many Serbian victims has not been achieved. The EU did not prevent the civil war by admitting Yugoslavia into the EU; instead, it blamed the Serbs for starting the war. The EU recognized the secessionist republics and actively helped various parties to fight against the Serbs during the civil war.

Even after recognizing so-called Kosovo, the EU did not maintain peace, at least not for us Serbs. This is especially true after the Serbian leadership was deceived into signing the Brussels Agreement. Twelve years have passed, and the most important part of this agreement for Serbs—the establishment of a Serb municipal community—has not been implemented. This is why Serbs cannot trust every word or view expressed by the EU and its officials.

The EU, which has told lies for 12 years, cannot expect Serbs to believe anything it says. Serbia does not need to prove anything to the EU, but the EU needs to prove to Serbia: we did not deceive you.

The EU allows any government to appear in Pristina (the capital of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo in Serbia, located in the northeast of the province), especially the Kurti government, to take all violent actions against Serbs, steal their property, deprive them of voting rights, arrest and expel them. However, apart from expressing "disapproval," the EU has taken no measures to stop the terrorist attacks against Serbs.

European refugee crisis

Serbia alone dealt with the migration crisis, and the EU's assistance was usually just to enhance Serbia's capacity to receive migrants, as if Serbia were very willing to have these migrants step onto its territory. In fact, we treat migrants more humanely and honestly than EU countries, and we clearly stated that we would not become a parking lot for migrants nor allow them to change the ethnic and religious composition of Serbia.

The liberal thinkers of the EU will have hundreds of years to explain to their descendants why they abandoned their forefathers' faith and way of life, why they allowed Christian European cities to look like areas controlled by al-Qaeda in many aspects rather than the Europe we love.

In addition, they need to explain why they know more about Afghan tribes than their own citizens who want to live safely, and why the scenes of tents filling the squares of EU cities are in conflict with this kind of life. Europe has been harmed, and I hope this harm is not permanent.

The EU's response to the COVID-19 crisis did nothing to enhance Serbia's trust in the EU. The mutual closure of borders, the competition for medicines and medical equipment, and the prohibition of medical supplies exports left a bad impression on Serbians. The help China provided to Serbia was sincere and unconditional, and Serbians will not forget. When you ask Serbia to oppose China together with you, don't forget this point.

The EU also performed poorly in handling the Middle East crisis. Regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, due to its policy of "fighting Russia until the last Ukrainian dies," the EU completely lost its status as a major player and lost its role in facilitating a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. On this issue, the EU demands that Serbia unconditionally stand on its side, requiring us to become part of the anti-Russian forces and asking Ukraine to participate in this conflict alongside the EU until Russia is ultimately defeated. The EU demands that Serbia support the inviolability of Ukraine's border, but why isn't Serbia's border sacred in the eyes of the EU?

If the EU truly cared about Serbia, it would not ask us to abandon our only enduring and historically significant ally—Russia. Serbia is not a nation of cowards and traitors. All Serbians know that without Russia, there would be no today's Serbia. In the wars against the Ottoman Empire, in World War I and World War II, Russians sacrificed more lives than our country to protect Serbia's freedom. It's regrettable that you think we would behave so despicably as to impose sanctions on Russia over a conflict that could have been avoided, one caused precisely by your failure to adhere to the Minsk Agreement.

The EU has strong economic power. The EU is Serbia's largest trading partner, and Serbia hopes to continue cooperating with the EU. However, we cannot help but worry that if EU leaders continue to ignore reality and place political goals above economics, what the EU's economy will look like. During the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the EU acted like a collection of scattered city-states rather than a united alliance with its own interests. It unconditionally followed the wishes of the Biden administration, resulting in reduced economic activity, rising inflation, and declining investment after decades of prosperity.

When the Nord Stream pipeline was sabotaged, the EU said nothing, and the saboteurs were not Russian. During Trump's first term, the EU strongly opposed NATO members increasing defense spending to 2% of GDP, but now the EU demands that its member states raise defense budgets to 5% of GDP. If this happens, how much money will remain for investment? What impact will war production activities have on those countries that trade with you but are not allies (these alliances are increasingly military in nature)?

If Serbia imposed sanctions on Russia, our annual trade volume would decrease by about 4 billion euros, and even if we obtained gas supply, we would have to pay market prices, which are much higher than what we currently pay. This would lead to increased heating and transportation costs for Serbian people, higher electricity and fuel prices, and increased fertilizer production costs, which would inevitably increase farmers' production costs and cause food prices to rise, thereby exacerbating inflation, and significantly reducing the value of Serbian people's savings and wages.

Many investments from the EU flow into Serbia because Serbia occupies a special position in trade with Eurasian Economic Union member states. A major problem is, if we withdraw from these countries' markets and Serbia's energy and gas prices are equal to or higher than those of EU countries, how much investment will continue to stay in Serbia?

If we had adopted the unreasonable and hysterical policies of the EU towards Russia, Serbia would have directly lost at least 15 billion euros, and no one in the EU would compensate us for this loss. Serbia has no intention of funding Ukraine's war. If we impose sanctions on Russia, Russia would not suffer the slightest damage, but we would be severely affected, yet the EU insists that we do so, showing how indifferent the EU is to Serbia.

The EU still possesses strong economic power and a high standard of living, which remains attractive to the Serbian people. Therefore, I urge you to think for yourselves so that we can preserve this family called the EU. We have closely linked democratic values such as "brotherhood, equality, and freedom" with the EU. Since 2005, we have been striving to become a member of such a union, but our progress has been minimal. For twenty years, we have strived to meet every wish and requirement of the EU, only to be told that Ukraine and Moldova, which do not need to meet any conditions, are the next countries to join the EU.

It seems that the qualification for EU membership is simply to go to war with Russia. And we cannot meet this condition. We once thought we shared the same values with the EU, but today, 20 years later, it looks like we are different. We always believed that we should learn from you how to respect the rights of all people, but then we saw that when the condition for forming a government in Croatia was that Serbs could not be members or participate in voting, you remained silent. We originally thought that elections in the EU were free and fair, until we found out that in Romania, they banned citizens from participating in elections, and even arrested a candidate who was likely to win based on Romanian public opinion rather than the will of the Brussels authorities.

In Germany, regardless of how much support German citizens have for the political ideas of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, you claim that everything is acceptable except for the AfD coming to power. And no EU official condemned the murder, arrest, or media attacks on AfD members. In Austria, no matter how many times the Freedom Party wins elections, it cannot form a government. In France, Marine Le Pen was cruelly prevented from participating in an election she was likely to win, depriving millions of French people of their right to vote.

Corruption always appears in areas where political opponents of the Brussels authorities are located, but there is no corruption in the EU member states or among the free-thinking people of Brussels. Is this really possible? Are you prepared to investigate how the Brussels government spends money on funding NGOs around the world, like former US President Donald Trump and his assistant Musk did?

You initiated "color revolutions" in non-EU countries such as Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Georgia, and Serbia, and now you are targeting Prime Minister Orban of Hungary and Prime Minister Fico of Slovakia, both of whom were elected freely as leaders of EU member states. If you can openly defame leaders like Prime Minister Orban and Prime Minister Fico, and if you can deprive the French and Romanians of the right to choose Le Pen and Georgescu, what can you do to us, non-EU countries?

In the EU, all media that do not follow the official stance of Brussels are prohibited from reporting, and all media receiving financial support from Russia are also banned. Moreover, the property of Russia and its citizens has been confiscated, and Serbia has been accused of being a dictatorship because the country does not ban media content banned in the EU. In Serbia, all EU media and media from Russia, China, Ukraine, and Belarus can be viewed freely, and no one will lose their property for any reason.

Serbian journalist Pikula stated: "The EU does not share the same values with Russia or China, and its values are increasingly different from those of the United States." This is true because Serbia shares the same values with Russia and China, and our values are becoming increasingly close to those of the United States. Especially, we cannot understand why the EU proudly shares certain values with the new Syrian government, composed of Islamic terrorists, whose leader refuses to shake hands with the German female foreign minister.

That authoritarian practice of viewing children as neutral gender, the authoritarian values of placing sexual orientation above personal qualities, and the social form without God, country, or natural families are neither Serbia's values nor those of the free world.

The conflict between the US and the EU is not about tariffs but involves sovereignty, normal order, and the tyranny of liberalism in terms of human rights. These values cannot be explained clearly, even by their supporters. Regardless of how dissatisfied I am with the Serbian policy of the US, I cannot deny that President Trump's values regarding God, country, and natural families are closer to my inner beliefs than the globalist values of no God, no country, and no family supported by the EU and its leaders.

The events on the streets of Belgrade aimed at overthrowing our government were not protests venting dissatisfaction but were actively operated by Western intelligence agencies, part of the political plan of the Brussels authorities. They wanted to remove President Vucic from office and establish a new government that recognizes EU values, follows the EU's recognition of Kosovo, abandons the Republic of Srpska, and actively imposes sanctions on Russia.
