Foreign Media: Foreign Media: China's "Durian Express" Accelerates Southeast Asian Fruits Entering the Northeast Market

To meet the growing demand for durian among about 100 million people in Northeast China, Liaoning Port Group is building an East Asia fruit transshipment center in Dalian and launching the "Durian Express" shipping service to shorten the time it takes for Southeast Asian durians to arrive. The service was launched on August 26, reducing the transportation time to 6 days, halving the previous maximum of 12 days, and handling approximately 10,000 standard containers (TEU, equivalent to a 20-foot container) of durian imports per year.

Previously, durians from major producing countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam took a long time to reach Dalian, affecting freshness, while southern ports such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen are closer to the production areas. Experts point out that the Northeast market is still a low penetration area for durian consumption compared to South China and East China, but local consumer interest is rising rapidly. This initiative is expected to further stimulate the growth of durian consumption in the Northeast region by improving logistics and maintaining freshness.
