Chinese companies won the bid for the thermal power plant and wastewater treatment plant project in Mongolia

Mongolian News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, August 26 - Within the scope of developing 24 large projects in Ulaanbaatar, the Emelet Ecological Industrial Park project will be built in the Sharilhuv area of Khaan-Uul district, 30 kilometers from the city center, covering an area of 539 hectares.

Within this scope, an open tender was announced for the 24 megawatt thermal power plant and wastewater treatment plant project under the EPC+F conditions. The winning bidder is a joint venture between the Chinese listed company "Huazhi Technology Co., Ltd." and "Hua Xi Energy Industry Co., Ltd.", and they signed a comprehensive construction contract on the 26th of this month. This joint venture has 30 years of experience and has participated in infrastructure projects in more than 70 countries.

The working group established by the capital's administrative order has completed the contract negotiations. The two major infrastructures of the Emelet Ecological Industrial Park include a 24-megawatt thermal power plant, which can generate 156 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and 265,600 gigacalories of thermal energy, as well as a wastewater treatment plant with a daily processing capacity of 6,700 cubic meters of domestic and industrial wastewater. The EPC+F model contract for complete design, procurement, and construction was won by the Chinese joint venture. The project is planned to start construction in the first quarter of next year and will be completed in 2027."

The Emelet Ecological Industrial Park will have the capacity to process 7.5 million leather pieces, 3,000 tons of wool, 5,800 tons of cashmere, 25,000 tons of meat, and 8,000 tons of by-products annually, and will process them in an environmentally friendly manner that meets international standards, producing final products. This park alone can handle 43.5% of the country's raw materials processing volume.

This project is expected to create approximately 5,600 jobs, recoup investment within 6.7 years, generate revenue of 1.72 billion tugriks, and pay taxes of 8.63 billion tugriks.
