[Source / Observer Network / Wang Kaiwen] The large-scale conflict between Israel and Iran continues. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu openly claimed that the actions of his side "may" lead to the regime change in Iran, and he also threatened that taking action against Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei could not be ruled out.
On June 20, according to a report by Sky News UK, Russian President Spokesman Peskov told them in an interview that the change of Iran's regime is "unacceptable," and assassinating the Supreme Leader of Iran is tantamount to "opening Pandora's box."
"The Kremlin issues its strongest statement yet."
The report said that it is rare for Peskov to accept interviews from foreign media. He told Sky News that if Khamenei were harmed, Russia would react "very negatively."
"The situation is extremely tense, not only for this region but also globally, which is extremely dangerous," Peskov said. "If the parties involved continue to expand the conflict, it will become even more dangerous. This will only lead to another round of confrontation and escalation of regional tensions."
Sky News pointed out that this is the strongest statement made so far by the Kremlin regarding the Israel-Iran conflict, which has raised concerns in Moscow about losing its closest ally in the Middle East.
Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022, the relationship between Russia and Iran has deepened continuously, and the two countries upgraded their partnership to a comprehensive strategic one in January this year.
"(Regime change in Iran) is unimaginable. It is unacceptable, and discussing this matter is unacceptable to anyone." Peskov said almost without disguise, pointing directly at the United States.

Peskov interviewed by Sky News Sky News
US President Trump claimed on the 17th local time that the US "knows exactly" where Khamenei is, and it would be easy to "take him down," but they will not do so at present. On the 19th, he said again that he would decide within two weeks whether to take military action against Iran.
Sky News reported that Peskov refused to reveal what actions Russia would take if Khamenei was "assassinated." He indicated that this would trigger actions within Iran itself.
"This will lead to the proliferation of extremism within Iran. Those who talk about (assassinating Khamenei) should remember this. They will open Pandora's box," Peskov said.
On June 14, Putin and Trump had a phone call, during which both discussed the tense situation between Israel and Iran. Putin mentioned that Russia is prepared to mediate the conflict between Israel and Iran.
However, Trump said on the 18th that he rejected Putin's proposal to mediate the Israel-Iran conflict, believing that Putin should first "mediate your own (conflict)," i.e., focus on promoting a ceasefire in Ukraine-Russia.
When asked about Trump's remarks, Peskov responded that he did not think these words were offensive. "Everyone expresses themselves differently," Peskov said. "President Trump has his unique way of speaking and language style, and we are quite tolerant of this. We hope everyone can be tolerant of us as well."
On June 13, Israel launched attacks on nuclear facilities and military targets in Iran. Previously, Israel emphasized that it would not target Iran's political leadership. However, Netanyahu publicly threatened on June 16 during an interview with American Broadcasting Company (ABC) that taking action against Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei would not escalate the conflict but end it.
Israel: Regime change in Iran is not our goal
Netanyahu claimed on the 19th when accepting an interview with Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) that overthrowing or collapsing the Iranian regime is not the goal of Israel's attacks, but it may become the result.
Israel's National Security Advisor Hanegebi recently stated that unless the Fordo nuclear facility is destroyed, Israel's military operations against Iran will not end.
The Fordo nuclear facility is located 90 meters underground, equipped with thousands of uranium enrichment centrifuges. Israel's conventional weapons cannot strike such depth targets. Military analysts believe that Israel may need the help of the US GBU-57 type bunker-buster bomb to destroy the Fordo nuclear facility.
When asked whether US involvement could solve the problem of the Fordo nuclear facility, Netanyahu said that regardless of whether Trump decides to join, Israel has the ability to eliminate all of Iran's nuclear facilities.
Regarding the possibility of destroying or dismantling Iran's Fordo nuclear facility, Trump once said: "We are the only ones capable of doing this. But it doesn't mean I'll do it."
A report by Politico Europe stated that Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on the 19th that Israel's attack on Iran is not directly aimed at Khamenei, but toppling Khamenei will ultimately benefit the Iranian people.
"Our goal is not against Khamenei, nor is there a goal for regime change in Iran," Herzog said. "But historically, this may produce obvious side effects and significant historical consequences beneficial to the Iranian people."
Herzog said he saw an opportunity for regime change in Iran, but he still claimed that Israel's main goal is to eliminate Iran's nuclear program and missile program.
When asked about the possibility of US intervention in this conflict, Herzog said: "We respect President Trump... We believe that President Trump possesses wisdom, capability, and a clear understanding of the situation. I think this is a rare opportunity to eliminate the threat hanging over the world."
When asked what would happen if the US chooses not to intervene, Herzog said: "We know what to do. We have proven that we know what to do."
