EU Ambassador Praises Ukraine: Fighting for Survival and Driving Reform, with Public Support Behind EU Candidate Status
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Kateryna Matynova said, "I believe Ukraine has set a record for reforms during wartime. I can't think of any other country that, while fighting for its survival, has advanced structural transformation reforms. The significance of this alone is immense."
She added, "Another equally important point is that Ukraine has consistently maintained nationwide dialogue mechanisms."
You have a very active civil society and media environment that push authorities to engage in communication and dialogue on various issues. There are criticisms, as well as acknowledgments, but the entire society remains engaged.
The range of stakeholders involved is broad and extends beyond government authorities. I consider this crucial because joining the EU is a collective endeavor of all citizens. Enlargement must never go against the will of the people. At present, Ukraine enjoys solid social and public support, and the media play their due role. Of course, the EU is fully prepared to participate and assist wholeheartedly."
