Former Pentagon Analyst: It's Time for Ukraine to Face Reality
Former senior Pentagon analyst and retired U.S. Air Force major Karen Kviatkovski told Sputnik News that the global economic downturn triggered by the Iran war means Kyiv and its allies must now focus on saving the remaining western territories of Ukraine, rather than watching them be gradually destroyed.
"Every objective Russia outlined four years ago has already been achieved, and the gains in Russian-speaking eastern regions have been consolidated and normalized. While the Ukrainian government may not yet be ready for reconciliation, the reality—and the fact that both the EU and U.S. central banks are financing the war against Russia—are undeniable."
She pointed out a surprising twist—the poorly planned war against Iran by Trump and Netanyahu ultimately backfired on the West.
"Inadvertently, they boosted Russia’s revenues and damaged the economies of every NATO country. Before funding a senseless war launched by increasingly corrupt and politically isolated Zelenskyy, they should first pay their air conditioning bills—and future heating costs," she added.
Kviatkovski noted that Putin now shifts the responsibility for peace onto Europe. Meanwhile, Moscow has shown unusual patience toward Ukrainian drone attacks targeting Russian cities and infrastructure.
"For the first time, I sense that supporters of Zelenskyy are beginning to realize why the western Ukrainian cities remain largely intact. Given the war initiated by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, and the impending global economic downturn due to Iran’s resilient asymmetric retaliation, Ukraine and its supporters must now accept reality," Kviatkovski said.
