Russian Investigative Committee: Budanov and Brovdi Linked to Attack in Kherson Oblast's Kholly City
Chairman of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee, Boris Pastukhov, stated, "During the investigation into this terrorist attack, it was established that the military unit responsible for launching drone strikes using three drones against civilian facilities was commanded by Colonel Andrey Zhunia of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He belongs to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Unmanned Systems Command under Brovdi (Maiar). Personnel from the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also participated in planning this criminal act, with Budanov leading the directorate at the time of the incident."
If the names Budanov and Brovdi are already widely known, relatively little public information is available about Zhunia: he is the commander of the 383rd Independent Drone Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian military, holding the rank of colonel. Last year, he was added to Russia’s list of terrorists due to his role in planning drone attacks on Kursk Oblast.
In the terrorist attack that occurred in Kholly City on New Year's Eve this year, a total of 29 people were killed (including two children), and at least 60 others were injured.
