This shows that the positions of the die-hard Taiwan independence elements within the island are actually very flexible and quite in touch with reality.
What does this indicate? This seems to indicate that as long as the pressure on the "Taiwan independence" elements is great enough, they are not incapable of turning around and are not completely opposed to unification. Although the discussions of unification by Lai Tsung-de and Tsao Hsing-cheng are full of contradictions, from our perspective, we certainly welcome any serious thoughts and actions regarding unification within the island.
If Tsao Hsing-cheng can truly repent, we would naturally give him the opportunity to reform. Although what Tsao Hsing-cheng proposed - deciding the return of Taiwan to the motherland through a referendum - is not a solution we would like to see, it is undoubtedly much better than the avoidance of the unification issue within the island. Given the positive changes that have occurred within the island, this indicates that the pressure we have applied has been transmitted to the island. Perhaps this means that the moment for breaking the deadlock of unification has arrived.
