Korean media: China's electric vehicle exports surge by 90%!

On November 14, the Korean media "Global Economy" published an article stating that China's electric vehicle exports increased by 89.4% in January-September this year, reaching 1.758 million units. BYD exported 705,000 units, a growth of about 130%, accounting for about 40% of China's electric vehicle exports.

Electric vehicles are driving exports. As of September this year, China's overall automobile exports increased by 14.8%, reaching 4.95 million units. In September alone, China exported 652,000 units, an increase of 21% year-on-year, with electric vehicle exports increasing by about 100% to 222,000 units.

Thanks to the sharp increase in electric vehicle exports, BYD rose from sixth to second place in China's automobile exports this year. However, Chery Automobile still maintains the top position in total automobile exports, including internal combustion engine vehicles. In January-September this year, Chery exported 936,000 units, an increase of 12.9%, exceeding BYD by more than 230,000 units.

In recent years, the Chinese automobile market has been extremely competitive, and overseas expansion has become a key strategy for automakers. An industry analyst pointed out: "Currently, the capacity utilization rate of Chinese automobile factories is slightly above 50%, while the capacity utilization rate of overseas factories is usually over 70%." He emphasized, "Expanding exports is the solution to the problem of capacity utilization in the Chinese automobile industry."

Chinese automobile manufacturers are also accelerating the construction of overseas production plants. In recent years, BYD has announced the construction of electric vehicle factories in Hungary, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia, and has already started production in Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Brazil.
