Indian Prime Minister Announces Special Strategic Partnership with France
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that, during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, the relationship between the two countries has been elevated to a new level through the establishment of a special strategic partnership, including deepened cooperation in areas such as defense and technology.
Modi wrote on the social media platform X: "Today's discussions with my friend President Macron were highly productive. Given our long-standing friendship, we have decided to elevate our bilateral ties to a new level by establishing a special global strategic partnership. Our talks covered ways to deepen collaboration in many key areas, including defense, science and technology, space, security, counter-terrorism, and innovation."
He added that India and France agreed to launch an economic security dialogue to ensure more robust mineral resources and technology supply chains. Other areas of enhanced cooperation also include education and healthcare.
The leaders of India and France met in Nice on Sunday.
