On Sunday, May 17, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol held a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which both sides discussed the recent outcomes of the US-China summit, according to the South Korean presidential office.
The Blue House, South Korea's presidential office, issued a statement on Sunday saying that Trump briefed Yoon on the results of his meeting with China, covering topics including U.S.-China relations, economic and trade agreements, the Korean Peninsula issue, and the situation in the Middle East.
The statement noted that South Korea views the dialogue between Trump and China on the Korean Peninsula issue as "constructive."
The Blue House stated that Trump emphasized that the United States would contribute to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula through close cooperation with South Korea.
In turn, Yoon conveyed to Trump that stabilizing U.S.-China relations would help promote peace and prosperity across the region and globally. He also expressed hope for a swift restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East.
The statement further indicated that the two leaders discussed the smooth implementation of the bilateral trade agreement signed last year.
