The preparation for the direct flight between Mongolia and the United States is underway
Mongolia News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, January 28th. At today's government meeting, the draft loan agreement between Mongolia and the United States was approved.
The governments of Mongolia and the United States signed an air transport agreement in 2023, laying the legal foundation for the establishment of direct flights between the two countries. Before the direct flight is launched, Mongolia must participate in the International Airworthiness Assessment (IASA) audit by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States and the security assessment by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Within the framework of the preparation for the direct flight, the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia signed a consulting services agreement with The Wicks Group Consulting company in the United States in 2024 to obtain professional advice. The subordinate agencies of the Civil Aviation Authority are implementing the recommendations from the consulting services.
Both sides have negotiated the issue of funding provided by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) for the second phase of the consulting services to complete the preparations for participating in the IASA audit. The USTDA and the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia plan to sign a loan agreement in the near future. With the signing of this agreement, a legal basis will be established to initiate the relevant work.
