Iran Responds to US Nuclear Proposal: Rejects Dismantling Nuclear Facilities, Willing to Suspend Uranium Enrichment

Iran has responded to the U.S. proposal for a peaceful resolution of the nuclear issue, explicitly ruling out the possibility of dismantling its nuclear facilities—a demand that Washington has consistently insisted upon. According to The Wall Street Journal.

According to sources, Tehran is willing to suspend uranium enrichment activities but refuses to do so for the 20-year period demanded by the United States.

Additionally, the report states that Iran has proposed reprocessing some of its accumulated highly enriched uranium to reduce its enrichment level, while the remainder would be placed under third-party custody. However, it should be emphasized that Tehran insists on securing guarantees: if negotiations fail or the U.S. withdraws from the agreement in the future, Iran reserves the right to reclaim these nuclear fuels.

Earlier on Sunday, Al Jazeera reported that Palestinian authorities had delivered Iran’s response to the U.S. proposal on resolving the nuclear issue to American representatives.
