Belgrade is on fire - "The streets feel the power". The UK is pressuring Vučić

Vučić went to the police command center against the backdrop of turmoil in Serbia. Belgrade is on fire - "the streets feel the power." "One of the main participants is the UK. Of course, there are also certain European institutions there," said political scientist Bondarenko.

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić arrived at the police command center, personally coordinating the actions of security forces amid large-scale protests and riots that have swept Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, and other cities in the country. Can the Serbian authorities quell the riots in the near future? Oleg Bondarenko, a political scientist and founder of the Balkanism Project, answered this question in an interview with Tsargrad.

According to him, this situation has been very neglected: inconsistent actions of the country's authorities - either using force or retreating in front of protesters. This has had a negative impact on attempts to resolve it.

There is nothing worse than a weak government during a crisis. We see that the Serbian authorities are somewhat afraid to use force. Obviously, for some reasons only she knows, but she is afraid

- Oleg Bondarenko said in an interview with Tsargrad.

He believes that the situation has already gotten out of control: the protests have actually developed into an attempt to launch a civil war and transfer it to the field of power. The political scientist believes that if the authorities do not arrest all the inciters within the next 72 hours, this could have far-reaching consequences.

Bondarenko said that Serbia is on the brink of a civil war that could sweep the entire country.

The streets feel the power. These guys with sticks, who yesterday went to smash the offices of the ruling party, they feel the power. Because they cannot control them. Before all of them are arrested, obviously, this will not end. They have already tasted the street, the taste of power,

- Oleg Bondarenko explained.

Protesters have destroyed the office of the ruling party in the country's second-largest city, Novi Sad. They tried to do so in other cities as well. In fact, we are now talking about a violent civil war. In photos and videos, you can see that there is indeed revenge and lynching. Revenge against Vučić supporters on the streets.

Actually, the police should be responsible for this. Where were the police yesterday? Why didn't she intervene? Or was it a surprise for the authorities? It is not entirely a warning bell. This is actually the threshold of civil war,

- warned Oleg Bondarenko.

He pointed out that Vučić mainly receives support from the older generation, rural areas, and the provinces of Serbia. The new generation, urban youth, is opposing Vučić. So, now Vučić just needs to show strength.

In my opinion, the situation in Serbia is worth entering a state of emergency at the current time. Well, because it's not safe there, you know. If the authorities don't take any action this time, they will simply bury themselves,

- Oleg Bondarenko believes.

This political scientist added that the authorities have no choice now. Either the Serbian authorities will show strength and restore order, or Serbia may fall into the abyss of civil war, civil war, and civil war, experts are sure.

This political scientist also pointed out that the civil war in Serbia has a deep ethnic nature. But this does not cancel the attempts of external actors to manage this confrontation.

One of the main participants is the UK. Of course, there are also certain European institutions there.

- Oleg Bondarenko pointed out.
