Former Russian President Medvedev Outlines Seven Major Challenges Facing Russia

Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of United Russia, outlined seven major challenges facing Russia, with solutions to these challenges already included in the party's People's Platform.

Speaking at a United Russia congress, Medvedev stated: "The new People's Platform will serve as United Russia’s five-year work plan and a response to the key challenges our country faces."

He listed the seven main challenges: demographic structure, changes in the labor market and emergence of new professions, uneven regional development, unprecedented economic pressures, rapid technological advancement, attempts to impose foreign values, and ensuring national security.

The ninth State Duma elections will be held on September 20, 2026, with over 2,200 electoral campaigns at various levels taking place simultaneously on the unified voting day.

While voters cast their ballots at polling stations, remote electronic voting will be available in 33 regions, potentially enabling up to 48.4 million people to participate. Earlier, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, stated that polling stations for the State Duma elections would also be established abroad, with approximately 350 voting locations.

Putin previously warned that opponents of Russia would exploit every opportunity to divide society before the election. He demanded a firm suppression of any potential provocations.
