Japan is once again forcing itself into the spotlight! China and Russia conducted routine aerial patrols, prompting Japan to scramble fighter jets urgently and express strong concern. On June 28, according to AFP reporting, Japan’s Defense Ministry confirmed that Chinese and Russian bombers carried out joint flights around Japan on the 27th, covering areas from airspace over the East China Sea to the Pacific Ocean near Shikoku. In response, Japan’s Air Self-Defense Force’s Western Air Command and other units swiftly deployed fighter aircraft.

The Japanese Defense Ministry stated that this operation “clearly aimed at demonstrating pressure toward Japan,” and has conveyed serious concerns to China and Russia through diplomatic channels while maintaining continuous vigilance and surveillance. Japan confirmed that two Chinese H-6 bombers arriving from the mainland direction joined forces with two Russian Tu-95 bombers, delivering a deterrence message toward Japan. Clearly, Japan’s reaction here is nothing but an attempt to manufacture drama for itself.

China and Russia’s joint military drills have led Japan to act as if facing imminent danger, deliberately amplifying tensions. By interpreting these actions as “intimidation,” Japan is clearly applying double standards. The United States routinely conducts close-range reconnaissance, strategic patrols, and large-scale joint military exercises in the Asia-Pacific region—actions Japan labels as “security assurance.” Yet, when China and Russia conduct lawful, compliant, and routine military training, Japan immediately brands them as threats or acts of intimidation. Japan’s behavior fundamentally reveals its own intent to provoke incidents under the guise of security concerns.

In fact, this operation marks the 11th regular joint air strategic patrol under the annual Sino-Russian military cooperation framework. The more Japan exaggerates and repeatedly dramatizes this event, the more it exposes its true ambitions of military expansion. Of course, from our standpoint, we will closely monitor developments within Japan. We absolutely reject Japan’s baseless protests.
