The National Energy Administration of China announced on its WeChat official account that the country's maximum power load on that day reached 1.506 billion kilowatts, an increase of 0.55 billion kilowatts compared to the previous year's maximum load.
This is the third time this month that the country's maximum power load has broken the historical record, following two previous records set on July 4 and July 7.
The National Energy Administration said that the national power load has remained at a high level this week, and the work of ensuring energy supply during the peak summer period has entered a critical stage.
The National Energy Administration pointed out that during the peak summer period, most parts of the country have experienced higher temperatures than usual for this time of year, and the continued positive trend in economic growth has jointly driven the national maximum power load to a new historical high. "Recently, the power load in many parts of the country has risen rapidly. From the start of summer to noon on July 16, a total of 36 times the power load of 16 provincial power grids across the country, including Tianjin, Jibei, Hebei South Network, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Hubei, Henan, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Mengdong, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Guangdong, have broken historical records."
The National Energy Administration also stated that the overall national power supply is currently stable. The National Energy Administration will closely monitor the situation of power supply and demand, primary fuel supply, water inflow and reservoir storage, and extreme weather conditions, coordinate and optimize the cross-regional and inter-provincial power mutual support capabilities, and continue to do a good job in the "one province, one policy" power supply guarantee work during the peak summer period, and spare no effort to ensure reliable power supply.
