Putin's speech was altered, Russian side criticizes British media

According to TASS, on November 28 local time, the Russian Embassy in the UK issued a statement criticizing the British Daily Telegraph for deliberately distorting Russian President Putin's remarks on the Ukraine situation.

The statement said: "We would like to draw the attention of British media to the need to accurately quote the statements of Russian officials, especially on sensitive issues such as the Ukraine crisis. Some media, particularly the Daily Telegraph, have deliberately distorted the meaning of President Putin's remarks during his visit to Kyrgyzstan. This media outlet fabricated Putin's words to cater to the interests of the British government, claiming that he stated 'Russia will continue to fight until the last Ukrainian dies.'"

The statement clarified: "However, the actual context was completely different. Putin's original intention was that some people in the West believed the conflict should end as soon as possible because Ukraine could no longer resist; while others in the West called for 'fighting until the last Ukrainian.'"

"Such distortion of the statements of Russia's top leader can only escalate tensions, which is exactly what the forces in the West who truly hope for 'fighting until the last Ukrainian' want." The Russian embassy emphasized and called on British media to consult official sources when reporting.
