Lavrov and Rubio Hold Informal Exchange on the Margins of G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On October 31, Interfax reported that Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a brief, standing-side conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the G20 foreign ministers’ reception in Atlanta.

Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel: “The G20 foreign ministers’ reception was hosted by the United States and held at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Rubio delivered the opening remarks before the informal exchange took place, drawing significant attention from photographers present.” She also shared photographs taken at the scene via her channel.

Previously, Lavrov had disclosed that he had engaged in discussions with Rubio during the series of events surrounding the G20 summit in Atlanta, covering bilateral relations as well as preparations for the Shenzhen APEC Summit.
