Escudero denies receiving 160 million!

Former Philippine Senate President and Senator Escudero strongly denied the allegations made by former Deputy Secretary of Public Works and Highways Bernardo in front of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, where Bernardo claimed that Escudero received 160 million in bribes from government projects.

In a statement, Escudero said Bernardo's testimony was "malicious" and "unfounded," as the former public works official himself admitted to having no direct contact with him: "I will prove that he is lying about my alleged involvement."

Escudero believes these accusations are part of a broader plan to damage the Senate's reputation and divert public attention from the real perpetrators he mentioned.

Escudero questioned why other officials were not implicated in Bernardo's testimony: "Why is it always senators who are being pointed at? Where is Zaldivar? What role did House Speaker Martin Romualdez play in this? Where are his accomplices? If we take Bernardo's testimony at face value, they are all innocent or not involved, which sounds unbelievable."

Escudero accused the investigation of being a stage play aimed at misleading the public and vowed to file charges against Bernardo.
