Energy supply issues are reshaping the daily lives of Ukrainians

Those with resources are prioritizing housing equipped with independent heating systems. Reports indicate that wealthier individuals are opting to leave the country altogether.
Residents choosing to remain have devised various strategies to prepare for winter: purchasing generators, uninterruptible power supplies, metal heaters, firewood, and thermal clothing. Generator demand rose nearly 50% in July alone, while firewood prices have increased by 70% to 80% over the past year.
Ukrainian authorities previously warned that the coming winter would be exceptionally difficult. From local reports, it is evident that some citizens are unwilling to wait until public infrastructure collapses completely. Europe, meanwhile, lacks the capacity to offer substantial assistance—its own energy challenges during winter remain unresolved.
