Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO: Russian-American Tunnel Project Is Under Deep Study

Russia Satellite News, Washington, October 25 - Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special Representative of the President for Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation, stated that the Russia-US Bering Strait Undersea Tunnel Project is under in-depth study.

Dmitriev emphasized during an interview with CNN:

"We are seriously studying this project. It is feasible and technically achievable. However, we also recognize that the first thing to overcome is political obstacles."

He said, "There are many economic incentives for implementing this project." Dmitriev stated that large-scale economic cooperation between Russia and the US is expected to become the cornerstone of peaceful relations between the two countries.

Russia Satellite News calculated based on public data that the length of the tunnel between Chukchi and Alaska could be as long as 98-113 kilometers, about twice the length of the English Channel Tunnel (approximately 51 kilometers).

Dmitriev previously announced that he plans to use the technology of the American company The Boring Company to build an intercontinental tunnel in the Bering Strait. According to him, the project would require an investment of up to $8 billion, and the tunnel could be completed within eight years.

Dmitriev also pointed out that the Russian Direct Investment Fund has studied existing proposals (including the U.S.-Canada-Russia-China railway project) and will support the most feasible option among them.
