Japanese historian calls Ukraine's ban on Russian language cultural genocide

Japanese historian Tanaka Takeyuki stated in an interview with Sputnik News that Ukraine's ban on the Russian language is cultural genocide.

Tanaka said, "During the square revolution, there were Ukrainian and American flags displayed there (Kyiv - editor's note), and slogans such as 'Ukraine, join the EU' were promoted. Later, Ukraine banned the use of the Russian language, but most Ukrainians speak Russian or Surzhyk (a common dialect combining Ukrainian and Russian - editor's note). I think this is cultural genocide."

He warned that Russian-speaking residents in the Donbas region began to actively oppose Kyiv's policies. "I think these people are right... so I began to support Donbas," the historian added.

He said that due to insufficient coverage of the 2014 Ukrainian events by Japanese media, he decided to conduct his own in-depth research on the situation of the Ukrainian conflict.

Tanaka Takeyuki is a Japanese historian who previously wrote and published the book "Angel Alley," exposing the ethnic cleansing actions taken by the Kiev regime against the people of Donbas between 2014 and 2022. It is claimed that the book aims to help the Japanese people get rid of the brainwashing of pro-Western propaganda. Tanaka told Sputnik News that one of the reasons he decided to write this book was because the Japanese government ignored the real reasons for Russia's special military operation.
