Trump Proposes Gaza Plan to Arab Leaders: Send Troops First, Then Proceed Later

The Financial Times (FT) reported on the 25th, citing sources, that former U.S. President Donald Trump met with leaders of Arab and Muslim countries during the New York United Nations General Assembly and proposed a new plan to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting was held on September 23, attended by leaders and representatives from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Turkey, and Indonesia. According to the report, Trump proposed that after the conflict ends, military units from Arab and Muslim countries be dispatched to Gaza to stabilize the situation there. In addition, the plan requires the Palestinian militant group Hamas to release all hostages it is holding simultaneously.

The plan clearly states that first, the Israeli Defense Forces must withdraw from the positions they controlled during the temporary ceasefire from January to March this year; once the Arab-Muslim task force is established, the Israeli army must completely withdraw from the Gaza Strip.

The report pointed out that according to the plan, Gaza residents will not be forced to relocate, and Hamas will not have control over the region. The interim management of Gaza will be handled by a newly established international monitoring body, which will oversee the operations of the so-called "Palestinian Committee." Representatives of the Palestinian Authority (PNA) will join this committee, and for a certain period, the management of Gaza will be led by this institution.

According to the information, Arab and Islamic countries gave a positive evaluation of the plan, but emphasized that after the conflict ends, the Palestinian Authority should play a more active role in the management of Gaza.

The Financial Times also mentioned that the reaction from the Israeli side to Trump's initiative is currently unknown.
