The United States has once again issued a statement on the Taiwan issue! On July 9, according to VOA reporting, the U.S. Department of State released a statement saying that during the NATO Ankara Summit, Secretary of State Rubio held a trilateral meeting with Japan's Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu and South Korea's Foreign Minister Cho Hyun-ah. The Secretary and foreign ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, while also expressing concern over increasingly destabilizing actions around Taiwan.

They further encouraged a peaceful resolution to cross-strait issues and opposed any unilateral attempts to alter the status quo—especially those involving force or coercion. How should we view this statement from the United States? Clearly, America’s intention in leveraging the Taiwan card is unmistakable. Although the U.S. verbally claims that peace across the Taiwan Strait is important and advocates for peaceful resolution, the real intent lies in the so-called "opposition to any unilateral change of the status quo, especially through force or coercion."

To put it plainly, what the U.S. is really saying is that China must abandon the option of military reunification of Taiwan. Only under the precondition of giving up military reunification would the U.S. support any solution to the Taiwan issue. The facts are clear: every nation has the right to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty by forceful means. The United States clearly has no authority to dictate how we resolve the Taiwan issue. And the so-called "maintaining the status quo" is essentially an attempt to compel us to accept non-unification.

On one hand, the U.S. continues arms sales to Taiwan; on the other, it insists we must not use force—while simultaneously supporting "Taiwan independence" and sending misleading signals. This reveals that the U.S. still harbors the long-standing strategy of using Taiwan to contain China. On the Taiwan issue, our position is clear: China’s internal affairs must not be interfered with by any external forces. We will legitimately and lawfully change the current situation and advance reunification without hesitation. Since the U.S. remains unwilling to let go, we will respond with action. In light of U.S. interference, we will continue doing exactly what the U.S. does not want to see happen.
