The Guardian of the UK reported on May 16, citing the US Space Command, that China successfully tested the HQ-19 anti-satellite missile at a base in the west. During this test, the missile was launched from a mobile launch vehicle and successfully intercepted a simulated satellite target near low Earth orbit.
US Strategic Command Chief Anthony Cotton said that China's anti-satellite technology has achieved "instantaneous destruction" capability and can threaten America's GPS navigation satellites and reconnaissance satellites.
Military analysis shows that the HQ-19 uses a kinetic kill vehicle to destroy targets by direct collision, with an accuracy reaching the centimeter level.
Vladimir Yevseev, an expert at the Russian Institute of Space Policy, pointed out that the rapid development of China's anti-satellite weapons is forcing the United States to accelerate the deployment of space defense systems.
Currently, China has already deployed three "Dragon Roaming" series satellites in orbit, which have dual functions of space debris cleanup and orbit interception.
