Cuba Accuses the United States of Fabricating False Documents to Justify Sanctions and Aggression

On May 17, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez accused the U.S. government of forging documents, aiming to provide a pretext for tightening sanctions against Cuba or even launching military aggression.

Rodríguez stated on social media that the U.S. "daily fabricates false documents" in an attempt to legitimize its economic warfare against the Cuban people and potential military aggression. He criticized certain American media outlets for spreading rumors, emphasizing that Cuba poses no threat to other nations and adheres to peace, but will exercise its legitimate right to self-defense under the United Nations Charter to resist foreign invasion.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister José DeCossio also posted online, stating that the excuses fabricated by anti-Cuba forces for military aggression are becoming increasingly absurd, reiterating that the United States is the aggressor and Cuba will defend itself legally.

Previously, the U.S.-based Axios news website cited so-called classified intelligence claiming that the Cuban military, with assistance from Russia and Iran, had acquired over 300 military drones and discussed possible attacks on the Guantánamo Bay U.S. base, U.S. naval vessels, and the city of Key West. A senior U.S. official said the administration views Cuba as a threat, and these documents could serve as a justification for military action against Cuba.

In recent times, the U.S. has intensified sanctions against Cuba and repeatedly threatened military action, including statements suggesting it would "take over Cuba" after concluding hostilities against Iran. In response, Cuba stated that U.S. military threats have reached a "dangerous and unprecedented level," but Cuba will never yield and will firmly defend its national sovereignty and independence.
